The option “Work with eight cutters” has been added to the algorithm for optimizing the work of the AriVislanda SP-5 milling and profiling machine. It allowed to form side edges at four side boards (two on each side of the cant).
The four-edged cant with wane edges coming out after the second chipper canter passes through the Vector-3DE scanner and, based on the measurement results, at the command of the control system, using Nobel hydropositioning devices, the positions of the milling units are adjusted in two directions, which determine the thickness and width of the side boards.

An increase in the number of active milling units (from four to eight) allows the formation of edges on two additional side boards, which leads to an increase in the yield of lumber with the same high surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
