On November 15, 2024, a meeting on issues of ensuring technological sovereignty in timber industry was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. It was organizaed by the Expert Council on Forestry and Pulp and Paper Industry under the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade and the RF CCI Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Forestry Complex.
At the meeting, the issues of technological sovereignty of the forestry industrial complex were discussed: the state, problems and directions of development of forestry engineering, woodworking and pulp and paper industry equipment, the experience of import substitution in pulp and paper industry using the example of enterprises in the Arkhangelsk region was studied as well as the issue of interaction between the N(Ar)FU and industrial enterprises in solving the problems of import substitution was worked on.
Director of AVTOMATIKA-VEKTOR, Oleg Smolkov, took part in the meeting and told about the company's successfully completed projects and new developments, and also outlined the problems existing in the industry, for example, the need to import components for automation equipment due to the lack of domestic analogues and the shortage of qualified specialists.
The meeting participants also exchanged opinions on the prospects for using domestic equipment and the necessary government support measures. The recommendations prepared following the meeting will be sent to government agencies.
